Terms of Service

  • Service: shock.lol ("shock.lol", the "Service")
  • Operator: The operator of shock.lol ("we", "us", "our")
  • Effective date: 2026-05-27
  • Last updated: 2026-05-27

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form a binding agreement between you and the operator of shock.lol, based in Finland (the "operator", "we", "us"), governing your access to and use of the shock.lol website, the bio-page builder, the image/file hosting features, the template marketplace, the public lookup API, and all related features and content (together, the "Service").

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Who we are and how to contact us

  • Operator / provider: The operator of shock.lol, based in Finland
  • General contact: [email protected]

Support and notices are provided by email to [email protected] and to the address associated with your account.

3. Eligibility and age requirements

To use the Service you must:

  • be at least 18 years old, or older if a higher age is required by the law of your country of residence; and
  • have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract; and
  • not be barred from using the Service under any applicable law or under a prior suspension or ban by us.

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed at minors. We do not knowingly create accounts for, or collect personal data from, anyone under 18.

4. Accounts and registration

4.1 Invitation-only registration

Registration currently requires a valid invitation code. To create an account you must provide a unique username, a valid email address, and a password, and supply an unused invitation code. We may change, limit, or open registration at any time.

4.2 Account credentials and security

You are responsible for keeping your password and any API token associated with your account confidential, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access. Passwords are stored only in hashed form.

4.3 Linked accounts

You may connect a Discord account to your shock.lol account. Connecting Discord authorises us to receive your Discord identity, email, and to add you to our Discord server and synchronise community roles, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can disconnect Discord at any time from your account settings.

4.4 Sessions and devices

You can view and revoke active login sessions from your account settings. We display limited, privacy-preserving session metadata (such as a device label and network type); we do not retain your raw IP address against your sessions.

5. The Service: what shock.lol provides

shock.lol lets you:

  • create and customise one or more public "bio" profile pages reachable at a personal handle (for example, shock.lol/yourname) and via aliases and optional custom domains;
  • add links, social profiles, widgets, badges, and embedded third-party content (for example Discord presence, Last.fm, Steam, Twitch, YouTube, GitHub, and game-stats widgets);
  • upload and host images and files used on your pages and via our image-hosting links;
  • publish, browse, like, copy, and report templates in the bio template marketplace;
  • earn and spend in-app virtual items (such as badge credits and invitation codes), including via a free daily reward spin; and
  • purchase optional paid items through Stripe (see Section 9).

Features may be added, changed, or removed at any time.

6. Your content and licence to us

6.1 Ownership

"User Content" means anything you create, upload, host, publish, or display through the Service, including your profile pages, text, links, images and files, widget configurations, custom domains, and marketplace template listings. You retain all ownership rights you already hold in your User Content.

6.2 Licence you grant

To operate the Service you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable (to our hosting and infrastructure providers, such as Cloudflare) licence to host, store, reproduce, cache, adapt for technical display, publicly perform and display, and distribute your User Content, solely for the purposes of operating, providing, securing, and promoting the Service. This licence ends when you delete the relevant User Content or your account, except for (a) content others have lawfully copied via the marketplace before deletion, (b) residual backup copies retained for a limited period, and (c) content we must retain to comply with law.

6.3 Public nature of pages

Your bio pages, public handle, aliases, view counts, and any content you place on them are, by design, publicly accessible — including through our public lookup API and view leaderboard, and via search engines unless you enable the "no index" option. Do not place private or sensitive information on public pages.

6.4 Marketplace templates

If you publish a template to the marketplace, you allow other users to view, copy, and use it within the Service. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to share anything contained in a template.

6.5 Your responsibility

You are solely responsible for your User Content and represent that you have all rights necessary to provide it and that it does not infringe any third party's rights or violate any law or these Terms.

7. Acceptable use and prohibited conduct

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • break any applicable law or regulation, or infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights;
  • upload, host, link to, or display content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, or that constitutes child sexual abuse material or non-consensual intimate imagery;
  • upload malware, or use the image/file hosting to distribute malicious, deceptive, or illegal files;
  • impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation;
  • post sexual content involving minors or target minors in any way;
  • spam, phish, run scams, or distribute unsolicited advertising;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems; probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without authorisation; or circumvent rate limits, bans, or security or authentication measures;
  • scrape or harvest data beyond what the public API expressly permits, or use automated means in a way that imposes an unreasonable load;
  • resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service except as expressly permitted;
  • abuse, manipulate, or exploit the rewards/roulette, balances, invitations, or billing systems (including fraudulent chargebacks); or
  • assist or permit anyone else to do any of the above.

We may set and enforce additional community rules for the Service.

8. Moderation, suspension, and bans

We may review, moderate, refuse, remove, or restrict access to any User Content, listing, or account, and may suspend or permanently ban accounts, with or without notice, where we reasonably believe these Terms or applicable law have been violated, to protect users or the Service, or to comply with a legal request. Users can report marketplace listings to us for review. Where appropriate and lawful we will give you notice and a chance to appeal via [email protected].

9. Paid items, billing, and refunds

9.1 What is sold

The Service offers optional one-time purchases processed through our payment provider, Stripe. Current paid items include a "Premium" account upgrade, badge credits, and invitation codes. These are charged as one-time payments (not recurring subscriptions) unless we state otherwise at the point of purchase. Prices, currencies, and available items are shown at checkout and may change.

9.2 Payment processing

Payments and card data are handled by Stripe; we do not receive or store full card details. By purchasing, you also agree to Stripe's applicable terms. We store a payment record (such as a Stripe customer/transaction identifier, item, amount, currency, and status) as described in the Privacy Policy.

9.3 Digital content and your right of withdrawal (EU consumers)

Premium upgrades, badge credits, and invitation codes are digital content/services supplied without a tangible medium. Under EU and Finnish consumer law you normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal. However, by purchasing and requesting immediate access, you expressly consent to immediate performance and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once delivery/activation begins (and, for digital content, once it has been delivered). Where an item has not yet been delivered or activated, the right of withdrawal continues to apply.

9.4 Refunds

Except where required by mandatory consumer law or where we choose to grant one, purchases are non-refundable once delivered or consumed. We support issuing full or partial refunds at our discretion. To request a refund, contact [email protected]. Virtual items and balances have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money except as required by law.

9.5 Virtual items

Badge credits, invitation codes, reward-spin prizes, and similar balances are a limited, revocable licence to use in-Service features. They are not your property, not transferable for value unless we permit it, and may expire or be adjusted if obtained through error, abuse, or fraud.

10. Custom domains and third-party integrations

If you connect a custom domain, you are responsible for owning or being authorised to use it and for configuring DNS. Domain verification and routing are handled with the help of Cloudflare. Widgets and integrations display data fetched from third-party services based on identifiers you provide (for example a Discord, Last.fm, Steam, Twitch, YouTube, GitHub, or game-stats handle). Those third parties have their own terms and privacy practices, and we are not responsible for their content or availability.

11. Intellectual property in the Service

The Service itself — including its software, design, branding, "shock.lol" name and logos, and all related intellectual property — belongs to the operator of shock.lol or its licensors and is protected by law. These Terms grant you only a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service as intended. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the Service except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

12. Service availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available but provide it on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation, and we may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, temporarily or permanently, at any time. We are not liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation, except as required by mandatory law.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time by contacting [email protected]. We may suspend or terminate your access as described in Section 8, or if you stop using the Service. On termination, your right to use the Service ends and we may delete your account and User Content, subject to the retention rules in the Privacy Policy and Section 6.2. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6.2, 11, 14, 15, 16, and 18) will survive.

14. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service and all content are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, be available without interruption, or be free of errors, viruses, or harmful components, nor do we warrant any third-party content or integration. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights you have as a consumer under mandatory Finnish or EU law.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or User Content.
  • Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the total amounts you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to liability, or (b) EUR 100.

These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot be excluded or limited under mandatory law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for our intentional or grossly negligent conduct, and they do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

16. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, and except where you are acting as a consumer for whom such an obligation would be unenforceable, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator of shock.lol from claims, damages, liabilities, and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or of applicable law or third-party rights.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable advance notice (for example by posting the updated Terms with a new effective date and, where appropriate, by notice on the Service or via email). Changes take effect on the stated effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service and may close your account.

18. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms and any dispute arising from them or from the Service are governed by the laws of Finland, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence within the EU.

  • Consumers: You may bring proceedings in the courts of your place of residence, or in the courts of Finland. Mandatory consumer-protection law of your EU country of residence continues to apply. Before going to court, a consumer in Finland may contact the Consumer Advisory Services (Kuluttajaneuvonta) and refer a dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board (Kuluttajariitalautakunta, www.kuluttajariita.fi). The EU Online Dispute Resolution platform is available at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/ (subject to its current availability).

19. General

  • Entire agreement: These Terms and the documents they reference are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
  • Severability: If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
  • No waiver: Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
  • Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a transfer or sale of the Service or its assets, subject to applicable law.
  • Language: These Terms are provided in English and only English.

20. Contact

Questions about these Terms: contact the operator of shock.lol at [email protected].
